Cougar Island is Out! Help us find a unique Idaho income property for the DAO
The appraisal price is in. Cougar Island is outrageously overpriced for a real fixer upper opportunity. Now, we continue our search for a property to establish the CougarDAO primitive.
The Cougars are out! We’re leaving Cougar Island in the rearview mirror. The appraisal came in and it was outrageous.
A real estate appraisal was released and the full island with all 5 lots with existing improvements (on one lot) was appraised for $10,335,000. According to this article from the Idaho Capital Sun, the island made a total of $32,400 of income in 2021, making the island a fantastic money pit.
Now, we love Cougar Island because the DAO wouldn’t have existed without it. We’re not letting go of the name just because the State of Idaho thinks they’ve got a slice of Palo Alto, without access, running water, or electricity. Getting Starlink to provide our internet connection with almost no income doesn’t seem tenable. Essentially, Cougar Island was a “unique fixer upper opportunity” for a piece of property with a negative cap rate.
A lot of other stuff has happened as well. Queen Cougs is being courageous and a variety of other things that you don’t need to know about, but this is an update so fuck off.
Now that we’ve insulted you and explained the problem with Cougar Island, we actually need your help. We’re looking for a unique piece of property to purchase. We don’t want to deal with an auction on the next attempt. Let’s find something unique AND for sale!
For real world assets and real world interactions, we’re looking for a piece of property in the State of Idaho. Though, we’re not fully committed to the jurisdiction. It does seem to be a good state to give this a try.
Help us find that next property for the DAO to buy!
We recently did a Twitter thread on a variety of properties. None of them are quite as unique as Cougar Island. So, we’re open to your input, feedback, and most importantly, your property suggestions.
Here are some of the properties we found in a search. Do you want a recreational property? How about a farm? Should we go commercial? Residential? Short term rentals?

One Cougar really wants a self-storage because he loves the business. However, it’s not the sexiest piece of property and probably no way to get fellow Cougars excited about buying property. Not exactly a place to invite and romance cougars either. Another Cougar likes wild spaces with access issues, where Cougars are free to roam.
What do you think we should buy?
